30th Annual Bon Festival
Inspired by Obon, Japan?s traditional three-day holiday honoring ancestors and thanking them for the quality of life enjoyed by the living, The Morikami celebrates Bon Festival in one fun-packed evening. Highlights include rousing taiko drum performances, traditional Japanese folk dancing, ghost stories, and a street fair with games and vendor booths. The highlight of the evening begins at sunset when Morikami Pond is transformed into a tranquil sea of lighted lanterns which, in accordance with Japanese custom, guide the departure of ancestors? souls who have come for a brief visit among the living. A special fireworks display caps the enchanting evening.

Shark Week in the Palm Beaches!
There's a fin in the water! The South Florida Science Museum is proud to be hosting Shark Week from July 28-August 5th. Many have seen the movies but few have actually had the chance to learn about one of nature's most feared predators in real life. This is a great chance for family members of all ages to come and experience the majesty and grandeur of these underwater behemoths with lecture series from wildlife experts as well as fossil and anatomy comparisons. This is for one week only, so be sure to check it out!
